ABOUT NSS
National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhi ji's Centenary year in 1969.
The program aims to instill the idea of social welfare in students and to provide service to society without bias. NSS volunteers work to ensure that everyone, who is needy, gets help to enhance their standard of living and lead a life of dignity. While doing so, volunteers learn from people in villages how to lead a good life despite a scarcity of resources. it also provides help in natural and man-made disasters by providing food, clothing, and first aid to the victims.
NSS SVC
HISTORY
NSS-SVC started its journey in 2018 and it reformed the earlier social service society of our college 'Parivartan'. As the name suggests, 'Parivartan' worked for social transformation and development of the society as a whole. It believed in leading a life of security, dignity, and prosperity.
The volunteers did their best to live up to our motto 'LET'S MAKE DIFFERENCE'. Parivartan actively organized various events and activities such as teaching programs, blood donation camps, donation drives, etc. and also collaborated with various NGO's across Delhi, working in different spheres.
The year 2018 served as the pilot year of NSS-SVC with Dr. Ram Kishore Yadav as the Program Officer. Carrying forward the legacy of 'Parivartan', NSS-SVC strives to uphold the motto of the National Service Scheme- "Not me, but you".
With about 4 years in existence, 5 main projects, almost 80+ events, 250 volunteers, and 20+ competitions, NSS-SVC strives to advocate the true spirit of social service and welfare.

NSS SVC abides by this and is fully committed to provide meaningful participation and play their roles well towards the society at their level. The very idea of service to humanity is embedded within all of us, but its actual execution is the crucial task. Our motive is to understand and implement the execution of humanitarian thoughts and give our best to the work of humanity and mankind.
We have taken various initiatives to not only aid but also to create empowerment and boundless joy among the people of our adopted slum Sanjay Camp. Our motive is to cover further areas in the coming future, for instance, proper projects for health camps and mental health issues.
SANJAY CAMP
"The slums have become the indispensable and dark side of our country, which we can't boast of."
An isolated area behind the fine embassies on the tree-lined avenue of Chanakyapuri, Sanjay Camp is hidden from the eyes of those who move around in cars. Sanjay Camp is an urban slum with over 10,000 people, situated in the trung between the embassies of the Republic of South Korea and the State of Qatar. Just a small alley that leads to the slum. Almost 2200 families are residing in the narrow lanes of the slum, where dozens of tin-roofed houses are squeezed together.

Sanjay Camp is one such place. People here do not have toilets attached to their houses, and have to depend on public facilities near the camp. There are improper sanitation facilities. People are living in unhygienic conditions but they do not have any other choice. They don't even have access to basic things like supplies of food, water and milk. There is no awareness among the people regarding education which leads to around 70% population to drop schools.

PHOTOGRAPHY TEAM
The photography team of NSS SVC is a group of hardworking students who work tirelessly, in order to capture every moment of joy and unity in the society as well as in our adopted slum, Samjay Camp. It's because of them that we're able to relive all the memories and simultaneously make new ones. The blissful faces we see in photographs are a result of the right timing and angle observed by the talented team. The members work not only for NSS SVC, but also assist various colleges with shooting videos and photographing. This is an apparent reason why we call our team an efficient and talented one!
CONTENT & RESEARCH TEAM
The editorial team of NSS-SVC is a dedicated group of students who unleash their command on words to make an impact upon young minds. The team's effort is to spread far and wide, the message of Parivartan. It uses innovative ideas and various media platforms to reach the maximum number of people with strong writings, captions and blog articles. This team is responsible for the effort that goes in compiling our annual magazine, 'Darpan'. It is the mouthpiece of NSS-SVC. Without the editorial team, it is impossible to imagine a systematic presentation of our work.
GRAPHICS TEAM

The graphic designing team of NSS-SVC creates the overall layout and designs posters, videos and collaterals for different events, donation drives, seminars, annual fests in order to communicate information in a creative way.
Making such exquisite collaterals requires a lot of patience, time creativity, hardwork and dedication. The posters made by our team are pretty attractive and eye catching, helping us in reaching out to a larger audience.
Creative Team is a very crucial part of NSS-SVC as it is responsible for the decorations and area allotment of each and every event. They are the theme planner of these events, which again adds to them being the backbone of our society. For designing they use reusable materials, newspapers, cardboards used during elections, and other wasted goods in order to save paper and cost. Their ideas are Eco friendly yet they add a charm to the events. Be it the location of stalls or beautification of a selected area, the entire creative team stays up on their toes to make an event successful by culminating inputs from all the members to make each event a huge blockbuster.
NSS – SVC’s Public Relations team works diligently in maintaining its society’s reputation by making strong collaborations with various institutions.
For various fests and events organized by NSS – SVC, we have successfully collaborated with numerous media partners, technical partners, and food and beverages partners.

NSS SVC for me is an emotion, if asked to be reflected in a single word. During my time at SVC, I had plenty of fish in the sea however the love, devotion, altruism and ambition this place stems out of, always kept my chin up. NSS was the first society in college that I wanted to join, and the one that I do not wish to part with. It is a platform for serving people while building values and virtue. Add to that, the growth I experienced in these two years is unmatched. When I close my eyes and think of my happy place, I behold NSS, a place you'd find a little sunshine, a little rain and grow into someone kind and compassionate. This chapter of my life had begun with a wish to do something for others and who knew it would turn out to be one of the most incredible ones. Working for solutions that empowers reality, raising each other's spirits, and lighting hope for a better and a beautiful tomorrow, the transformative effect it has on me is magical. If my life was a broken vase, the love and affection this place gave me worked in the same way golden liquid do in kintsugi.
I can only imagine my words doing justice to it but, I know one thing for sure, NSS is 'pyaar', forever!

I am proud of the fact that the NSS volunteers work day and night throughout the year. I often see them coming up with new initiatives and innovative ideas to serve others. It is great to see their enthusiastic involvement in the working of the society. Whether it be the promotion of major events like our Jaagriti fest or fun-filled competitions or adding a new dimension in the existing projects, the joy and optimism reflects on these innocent faces.
